An essential, boring process

Sadly, I found voting to be quite a mundane process. I always hear people talk about how exciting it was to do for the first time and say stuff like "I felt like I connected with my country so well!" or "I feel like a true part of democracy" or whatever. I am very much into politics, and felt absolutely obligated to vote. Nonetheless, the process involved standing in a really long line for two hours and then filling out a little paper slip. It felt more like making a trip to the DMV than a notable step into adulthood -- nothing too exciting about the process itself.
